“There is always an inner game being played in your mind no matter what outer game you are playing. How you play this game usually makes the difference between success and failure.” -Tim Gallwey
As the jan month is ending you may notice few things happening to your new year resolutions. Some of you might have started working on them and seeing fluctuations in motivation levels and levels of persistence; some of you are yet to start and not finding the internal / external resources to take the first step towards your goal..
You may be noticing an internal struggle where one part of you want to reach out to new heights and the other part wants to be settled in the comfort zone forever... this struggle is akin to trying to drive a car with handbrakes on… No matter how hard you press the accelerator you will be taxing your engine and might ultimately lead to breakdown where you wear yourself out..
Apart from physical, emotional, mental and financial wear and tear, it also wears out the self-esteem i.e. a person’s confidence in himself to carry out his own commitments… with time the person hesitates in making simple commitments to himself and others…. and this hesitation then develops in complete cessation of making any commitment affecting his own self and his relationships…
Hence it is very important to start over if you need to and complete your goals… and this time release those brakes…. the solution to releasing those brakes is simple but it needs commitment on your part… commitment to work hard, invest in yourself and master the techniques to keep your foot away from those brakes and at the same time keep all the parts of your car adequately lubricated ….then all you have to do is trust your own self to master the art of driving smoothly and enjoy your journey towards your destinations…
You can do this on your own, or you can hire someone to help you do this… in any case it is your commitment and responsibility to see that it is carried out to the end…
From my experience NLP and Coaching are helpful tools , and I would say that they are two of the most effective ways I have found so far, but I believe they are not the only ways…
Find your own tools and ways that work for you and knock those goals down.. mark them completed… you will develop a habit to be successful…for success is nothing but progressive realization of worthy goals. To be successful you have to master success habits.
